Journey with us

A Members-only Spiritual and Cultural Pilgrimage through Italy

Dear Friends;

We are delighted to invite you on a members-only extended pilgrimage to Italy, taking place from October 23 to October 29, 2025, immediately following the Grand Magisterium pilgrimage. This unique opportunity is crafted exclusively for the Western USA Lieutenancy members, defining a cultural and spiritual journey through some of Italy’s most sacred and historic sites.

We are excited to share the news that Fr. Chrysostom Baer, O.Praem.Prior, St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado California will join us as our Spiritual Director for our  October 2025 post-pilgrimage through Italy.  Fr. Prior was invested in 2023 as a member of EOHSJ in Orange. We are honored to have him join us as we travel through Italy’s spiritual sites.

Our pilgrimage begins in the serene town of Assisi, where we will explore the life and legacy of St. Francis. Highlights include the Basilica of St. Francis, the Basilica of St. Clare, and the Church of St. Mary Major, home to the remains of Blessed Carlo Acutis. We will also visit the tranquil Eremo delle Carceri (Hermitage) and the Church of San Damiano. Our time in Assisi culminates with Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.

From Assisi, we will travel to the Renaissance city of Florence, where we will admire Michelangelo’s iconic David at the Academy of Fine Arts and celebrate Mass at the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Our journey continues with visits to Santa Croce Church, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. In Florence, you will also have time to explore the local shops and enjoy the vibrant culinary scene on your own.

Our pilgrimage concludes in Siena and Rome. In Siena, we will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of San Domenico and visit the sanctuary of St. Catherine, followed by a farewell lunch. Our final evening will be spent in Rome, and travel will conclude the following day.

Pilgrimage holds a special place in the Catholic tradition, serving as a profound act of faith and devotion. It is a journey that allows us to step away from our daily routines and draw closer to God, deepening our spiritual lives and renewing our commitment to our faith. Through visiting sacred sites, participating in the sacraments, and sharing experiences and breaking bread with fellow pilgrims, we are enriched by tangible reminders of our sacred heritage and instructed by the lives of the Saints.

We hope you will join us on this special journey.

Blessings on your travels,

Joseph and Linda Maneen
