On October 23, 2025, as part of the pilgrimage of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem for the Jubilee Year of Hope, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV granted an audience exclusively to several thousand Order members, including several from the Western USA Lieutenancy.
In his address, he recalls the historic ties of the Order to protection of the Holy Places, and care for pilgrims and the Church of Jerusalem. He also draws focus to our many works in the Holy Land: “the seminary, schools, charitable and welfare works, humanitarian and educational projects, the University, aid to the Churches and special interventions in times of acute crisis including during Covid and in tragic days of war.”
He continues, providing a profound meditation on three kinds of hope immediate tied to the Easter story, particularly at the Tomb of Christ.
