A Traditional Marian Procession through the Old City

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Latin Parish of Jerusalem brought the Marian Month to a close with a solemn celebration in the courtyard of St. Saviour’s Monastery, followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the Old City.

The evening opened with the recitation of the Rosary, followed by Mass celebrated by Fr. Rami Asakrieh. During the liturgy, girls from the parish recited the Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the Patriarch blessed Miraculous Medals that were then conferred upon them.

Following Mass, Cardinal Pizzaballa led the procession carrying the icon of the Virgin Mary from St. Saviour’s through the Old City.

Now more than ever it is important that the traditions of the Holy City be actively preserved, activities and community that the contributions and presence of the Order work every day to support and sustain.
