The Latin Patriarch Leads the Mount Carmel Procession

The tradition of processing the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel to the Stella Maris Monastery is over a hundred years old, having been instituted by Carmelite Fathers following the First World War.

With security concerns slightly diminished, the Christians of the Holy Land were eager to resume this yearly show of reverence and fervor.

Led by the Patriarch, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, rosary in hand, the procession began at the foot of the mountain in Haifa and concluded with a blessing and heartfelt message.

“Once again, we gather here, between one war and another, to entrust our families, our communities, and our lives to God through the intercession of Our Mother, the Virgin Mary.” He acknowledged that the faithful would return to their homes, with their lives still marked by many difficulties, yet strengthened by the spiritual blessing and protection of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel […] we should not be afraid, because we have all that we need: Jesus and the Holy Virgin.”
