Priestly ordination of Deacon Abdullah Dababneh

On Friday, corresponding to 06/30/2023, the Latin Patriarchate and the Seminary celebrated the priestly ordination of its son, Deacon Abdullah Elias Dababneh, in a festive mass presided over by His Beatitude Pierbatista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, with the participation of former Patriarch Fouad Al-Twal, and Bishop Jamal Khader, Latin Patriarchal Vicar. In Jordan, Bishop Paul Marcuzzo and Bishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Tuzzo, the papal ambassador to Jordan, in the presence of the seminary’s priests and nuns, a group of priests of the Latin Patriarchate, the family of the new priest, the monastic communities, and a number of relatives and friends.

After announcing the Gospel, the head of the seminary, Father Bernard Boggi, presented the ordination student to His Beatitude the Patriarch and the faithful community, declaring his public desire to accept the Lord’s call and grace.

In his sermon, His Beatitude the Patriarch focused on several points: First, that the message of Jesus is our message, and your message as a priest, but your message as a priest belongs to Jesus. This is the starting point for any work that you will do as a priest. Complementing, he said that the priest must be another Christ, and that a good priest is the praying priest. His Beatitude also mentioned that your relationship and fellowship with the church is the evidence for knowing God’s will, as the priest must work to bring the believers to Christ and not be attached to his person.
