Thursday EveninG
Outing to Mission San Diego de Alcalá
Our Annual Meeting opens with a special evening at Mission San Diego de Alcalá — the first of California’s twenty-one missions and the birthplace of the Catholic Church in the American West. Founded by St. Junípero Serra on July 16, 1769, and restored after the martyrdom of Fr. Luis Jayme in 1775, this historic adobe church stands as the origin point of California’s Catholic heritage.

Our Ecclesiastical Master of Ceremonies, Msgr. Dennis Mikulanis — a native San Diegan — will present on the Mission’s history. The evening includes Vespers followed by a buffet dinner.
This is a ticketed event. Buses will depart from the hotel at 5:00p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $130 using the General Registration form.
Friday Morning
Golf in the Area
This year we are stepping back from organizing a formal golf tournament, but we warmly invite golf enthusiasts among our members to form their own groups and enjoy a round together on San Diego’s exceptional courses. Friday morning is the perfect opportunity, with the afternoon free ahead of evening retreats.
We recommend three excellent options in the area.
Torrey Pines Golf Course
La Jolla, CA
Just steps away from the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, Torrey Pines is one of the most celebrated public golf courses in the country — host to two U.S. Open Championships and set dramatically atop the cliffs above the Pacific. Both the South and North courses offer stunning ocean views and a challenge worthy of any skill level.

The Crossings at Carlsbad
Carlsbad, CA
A premier 18-hole championship course set on more than 400 acres of Carlsbad’s coastal terrain, about 30 minutes north of the hotel. Designed by Greg Nash and voted by Golf Magazine as one of the “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play,” The Crossings features panoramic Pacific Ocean views from the front nine and dramatic canyon play on the back. A 28,000-square-foot clubhouse with the Canyons Restaurant rounds out the experience.

Admiral Baker Golf Course
San Diego, CA
The Navy’s premier PGA-sanctioned golf facility, nestled at the northern edge of Mission Valley alongside the San Diego River. Admiral Baker features two meticulously maintained 18-hole championship courses and holds the distinction of being the busiest military golf course in the world, averaging 125,000 rounds per year. Open to MWR patrons and the public as guests.

Local Attractions
Balboa Park
A thousand acres of culture, nature, and the world’s most famous zoo.

One of the great urban parks in the United States, Balboa Park stretches across 1,200 acres in the heart of San Diego and is home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo, seventeen museums, multiple performance venues, and miles of garden and canyon trails. The park’s architectural centerpiece is the Spanish Colonial Revival buildings constructed for the 1915–16 Panama-California Exposition — a backdrop so striking it has served as a filming location for countless productions. Whether you spend a full day at the Zoo, explore the Fleet Science Center or the Museum of Man, or simply walk the El Prado promenade past fountains and flowering gardens, Balboa Park rewards however much time you give it.
La Jolla Cove
Chance upon San Diego’s famous sea lions sunbathing on sand and rock.

Tucked beneath the sandstone cliffs of La Jolla just ten minutes from the hotel, the Cove is one of Southern California’s most beloved natural landmarks. The small, sheltered beach opens onto remarkably clear water — a protected marine reserve teeming with garibaldi, leopard sharks, and the California sea lions and harbor seals that sun themselves on the rocks with complete indifference to their admirers. The surrounding blufftop park offers one of the finest coastal walks in San Diego, with views north toward Torrey Pines and south toward the village of La Jolla, whose galleries, cafés, and boutiques are an easy stroll away.
USS Midway Museum
Explore 47 years of service on display on this legendary aircraft carrier.

Moored on the downtown waterfront at Navy Pier, the USS Midway is the longest-serving American aircraft carrier of the 20th century — and today the most-visited naval museum in the world, drawing over a million visitors a year. Decommissioned in 1992 after 47 years of service, the ship has been meticulously restored and filled with 30 restored aircraft, dozens of interactive exhibits, and the voices of veteran docents who served aboard her. From the cavernous hangar deck to the cramped crew quarters to the sweeping views of San Diego Bay from the flight deck, the Midway offers an immersive encounter with naval history that is genuinely difficult to leave.
