Supporting Holy Land Christians

The Equestrian Order encourages awareness and engagement of members through the dissemination of accurate and timely information about the challenges affecting and needs of the Christian community in Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, and Cyprus. Especially with present conditions being what they are in the Holy Land, humanitarian, health, and economic issues are of vital concern to the Order. Maintaining the sanctity of Christians in the Holy Land is an issue that ultimately affects all Christians, for it calls into question the right of all of us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, Our Savior.

Holy Land Ministries Committee

The Holy Land Ministries Team strives to raise awareness and engagement of our Dames and Knights with the various organizations and special projects supported by the Lieutenancy.  In addition to supporting existing ministries, including reviewing need and grant requests, the Team researches new opportunities with each Area to help Christians in the Holy Land and facilitates new ministries and projects coming online. These projects promote an awareness and education about the plight of Christians in the Holy Land with our Lieutenancy membership with the hope that members and friends of the Order will provide material or financial aid and support while promoting prayer for our Brothers and Sisters in the Holy Land.

Sir Frank McKown, KCHS

Holy Land Ministries Councillor

Among the activities taking place at the Lieutenancy and diocesan level are:

  • Creating opportunities for the co-promotion of inter-religious dialogue and understanding.
  • Placing articles in diocesan newspapers and church bulletins about the Order’s mission and help we provide to our Holy Land ministries and projects;
  • Contributing to the Lieutenancy newsletters and social media on matters concerning our Holy Land ministries and projects;
  • Promoting awareness and engagement of our members through Ministry Fairs at the Annual and Midyear Meetings;
  • Encouraging members to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and visit our ministries and projects;
  • Praying the Memorare each day for the intention of Peace in the Holy Land and for the intentions of our Holy Father.

Supporting our Holy Land Ministries and Projects is in many ways what being a Knight or Dame is all about. We hope every member will be actively involved in this effort.

Holy Land Programs

A major purpose of the Holy Land Ministries Committee is to help each Area of the Lieutenancy implement sponsorship programs with existing Holy Land Ministries and/or to develop new ministries. These programs will promote an awareness and education about the plight of Christians in the Holy Land with our Knights and Dames, who will hopefully provide material or financial aid and support while promoting prayer for our Brothers and Sisters in the Holy Land.
